It is the mission of Marybell's Christmas to provide to the poor and underpriviledged children from the Dalhart, Texas area physically or mentally stimulating gifts at Christmas or other appropriate times of the year. Marybell's Christmas will also give gifts to hospitals, foster homes, and organizations for the benefit of children in their care.
Marybell’s Christmas was a brainstorm in memory of a very special grandmother that was laid to rest at the same time as an unexpected windfall was received. So… a group of generous members of our community banned together and decided Santa needed some help bringing joy to the deserving children of Dalhart. Santa’s helpers purchase bicycles, basketball goals, game tables, dolls, and other toys to be given at Christmas time. The event is held the Sunday before Christmas . With the help of volunteers over 650 toys are given away. The doors open at 1:00 pm and the giveaway begins at 2:00 pm. While waiting in line the children hear the Christmas story, eat cookies, and drink hot chocolate. They listen to a local group sing Christmas carols. A good time is enjoyed by all.
